REVS GARAGISTAS

REVS Garagistas 28th NOVEMBER
Once again we find ourselves in lockdown, and facing the challenges to stay as well as we can given the limitations. Yet again we face the cancellation of events, and an uncertainty about when things will return to any kind of normality. And it’s also winter, with the onset of long dark evenings, short days, and plenty of vehicles stored away until next year. So, it seemed as good a time as any to host something that we hope will still allow us all to indulge our love of classic vehicles.
Enzo Ferrari once called the fledgling British Formula 1 Constructors ‘Garagistas’ – he thought it an insult to the people in UK garages who were designing and building cars that were competing, and in some cases beating, his red thoroughbreds. We may not all be building Formula One cars, but why not celebrate being a nation of ‘Garagistas’ while we have the chance. Given that lockdown places restrictions on what we can do, and where we can go – the humble garage or workshop may just be the place to stay mentally well during this time.
So we want people to submit a video strictly no longer than 6 minutes about what they are working on in their garage, workshop, business premises….lets celebrate together in one of the few places we might be able to enjoy our vehicles.
Why 6 minutes? 6 was the number on the Lotus Jim Clark first drove for Colin Chapman – arguably the King of Garagistas. Incidentally it was also the number on Hill’s Lotus 49 which very nearly won on the car’s debut in 1967.
REVS Limiter will host the event on its Facebook page, with the community now numbering nearly 6000 people and growing. Upload videos in advance or shoot it live from your den, following a timetable, and lets enjoy a day of something vehicle-related – even if its from the comfort of your armchair – or garage.
We want as many people involved as are able and willing, whoever they are, whatever lies in their garage or workshop. Whether it’s obscure, well known, in pieces, for sale, awaiting restoration, or being polished -, whether it drives, flies, floats, does something that you will have to explain to us – lets see it and share in it.
Running Saturday November 28th from 09:30 for the whole day through to however long we take………..
